| Vampires (1998) | Imdb | AMG | An excellent 'Kill the Bloody Vampires' film. Lots of shooting of vampires with guns. ER... WHY? We are told close to the beginning that the only way to kill them is to use a stake... so why didn't they have lots of stakes? Even the crossbow wasn't used to kill them. This film was directed by John Carpenter and starred James Woods, Daniel Baldwin, Sheryl Lee, Thomas Ian Griffith, and Maximilian Schell. This is a disappointing film by John Carpenter - I did expect a lot better after his Assault on Precinct 13 (which was his second feature after Dark Star) which he made in 1976. All him films are usually concentrated in a enclosed area and this helps to build up tension and suspense. Something which is sadly lacking from this film. However I still liked the film and enjoyed it for the brainless romp it was supposed to be. Bring your popcorn and coca cola! |
