| The Mummy (1999) | Imdb | AMG | As punishment for killing Pharaoh Seti and sleeping with his mistress, Egyptian priest Imhotep (played by Arnold Vosloo ) was mummified alive and cursed. But in 1923 he is inadvertently resurrected by treasure hunters and must be stopped before he can wreak his final vengeance on the world. Those fighting against the Mummy are Brendan Fraser who plays Richard 'Rick' O'Connell, Rachel Weisz who plays Evelyn 'Evie' Carnahan and John Hannah who plays Jonathan Carnahan. Before I saw the film I hadn't realised this was a comedy. The film was OK. lots of excellent CGI by Industrial Light and Magic. Good quality sound on the DVD. A good 'tongue in cheek' story. At least once in the movie I made a sarcastic comment. To have this repeated moments later by one of the chars in the film. Worth Buying for the sand effects alone. CAP Review |
