| Gattaca (1997) | Imdb | AMG | Very well created DVD... excellent sound/picture. And a good story. Will this happen one day? The film didn't receive the exposure it deserved when it came out. This is a intelligent film. The film stars Ethan Hawke as Vincent Freeman, Uma Thurman as Irene Cassini and Jude Law as Jerome Eugene Morrow. Gattaca Corp. is a aerospace firm in the future. During this time society analyses your DNA and determines where you belong in life. Ethan Hawke's character was born with a congenital heart condition which would cast him out of getting a chance to travel in space. So in turn he assumes the identity of an athlete (Jerome Morrow) who has genes that would allow him to achieve his dream of space travel - but who was crippled in an accident. Jerome constantly passes gene tests by diligently using samples of Jerome's hair, skin, blood and urine - and then there is a murder and the police close in whilst the Space launch looms ever closer. |
| Groundhog Day (1993) | Imdb | AMG | I loved the film. So I got the DVD. No extra's to speak of which is a shame. What do you do if you have the worst day of your life, time after time. No matter what he does, Bill Murray , who plays Phil Connors, cannot escape the loop. He is helped by Andie MacDowell who plays Rita and Chris Elliott who plays Larry. Andie MacDowell brings her gentle brand of good nature to this film. |
